01.Health Economics: Module 1 - Introduction to Health Economics and Economic Evaluation in Healthcare

This module is comprised of three units. 

• Unit one will give you an Introduction to health economics, outlining the purpose, scope, and core concepts of the discipline. The module will outline some of the skills that health economists should possess and identify some of the types of research questions and decision problems that they can help with.

• Unit two is an Introduction to health economic evaluation and outlines the rationale for economic evaluation, the role of economic evaluation in healthcare decision making, and national guidelines about the conduct of economic evaluations.

• Unit three provides you with a guide to Applying health economics in your organization, outlining how to frame decision problems that are appropriate to analysis with the health economic evaluation techniques that you will learn in the rest of the course.
